Mujeres Tejedoras de Tactic
These brocade-filled beauties are a mix of newly woven and pre-loved garments all from a group of weavers in Tactic, Alta Verapaz. The "Mujeres Tejedoras" as they call themselves ("Women Weavers") are offering these beauties for sale. You'll note that new pieces come in Panel form without a neck opening, and used pieces come in Huipil form with the neck opening and the sides sewn into blouse shape.
Each piece was handwoven on a backstap loom, and feature clean selvages on each panel as is traditional of this town. A laborious technique, it shows the advanced skill of the weavers.
